Restaurants and Bars

+ Lago

Orlando, FL

A true destination restaurant on the lake.

This 300 seat modern Italian restaurant and bar was designed for a first generation chef from Acireale, Italy and his son, a sommelier. Warm rich materials and flowing curved forms move between sculpted architecture that represent natural elements. A theatrical expo kitchen opens to the voluminous bar and dining rooms; and as such, there was close attention, during the design process, to control both light and sound. This ensured that the visually dynamic space would deliver an intimate guest experience.

+ Hard Rock Cafe

Orlando, FL

This 23,000 sq. ft. ‘mecca of rock’ was the highest grossing restaurant in America.

We created the Central Florida concept and provided all architectural and interior services for this Hard Rock flagship at Universal Studios. This three story Greek revival building thrusts sixty feet into the air through the body of a 340-foot long Fender Stratocaster. From day one, this shrine of rock music became the most successful unit in the chain.

Our firm received the Award of Excellence from the American Institute of Architects for architectural creativity.

+ Lee Roy Selman’s

Tampa, FL

Multi-unit sports bar concept, rebranded to drive a unique concept down field.

Lee Roy Selmon, the first Tampa Bay Buccaneer enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame partnered with the founders of Outback Steakhouse to redefine the way a sports restaurant should be. Designed with energy and cheer, customized wall graphics to honor local legends and a stadium style layout to support the vision.

+ Seasons 52

National Prototype

Worked with Darden to develop the interior concept for their successful and critically acclaimed flagship.

Darden’s brand statement focused on a seasonally inspired health conscious menu. We were given an inspiring vision from the prairie style architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Delivering an interior which featured natural materials that included warm wood paneling and stacked stone, against a palette of deep rich hues, immersing guests in the glow of goodness.

+ Sale E Pepe

Marco Island, FL

A fine dining restaurant, hand crafted and imbued with an historic patina.

A classical Italian Restaurant that is a vision of the Italian Renaissance overlooking the Gulf of Mexico with a timeworn and faded elegance. We designed and delivered a restaurant in which every detail was planned to exceed the expectations of the most demanding and knowledgeable of the Naples area clientele.

+ Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

Various Locations

A redesign of a classic New Orleans restaurant.

An international restaurant group hired us to modernize their brand and depart from the traditional dark masculine steakhouse image. The client challenged us to follow the principles of our design while giving each location its own local personality. We created a prototypical layout to be used for new free-standing locations and redesigned many of the existing locations. We successfully repositioned their brand by appealing to a younger consumer and more specifically to women with lush and vibrant finishes, unique modern art and iconic light features.

+ Marker 36

Naples, FL

A private beach side restaurant in a mangrove preserve.

Marker 36 is a private 16,000 square foot beach front restaurant and bar that caters to the 6,500 residents of the Pelican Bay Community in North Naples. This casual gathering place features a fifty-two-foot-long island bar with a back lighted natural crystalline quartz top. The interior dining room has spectacular views of the Gulf and the mangrove preserve. All of the art was created by local Naples artists and focuses on this unique protected environment.

+ Toulouse

Marco Island, FL

A sumptuous Parisian styled lounge

We proposed this gathering place as a tribute to the artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Like the art of Toulouse, the lounge was conceived as an impressionistic vision of the unabashed romance and glamour of Paris in the 1890’s. The interior is finished with a rich palette of materials and it is an intimate and comfortable respite that invites its guests to linger amongst many of the artist’s reproductions.

Theme Parks

+ Superhero Island

Universal’s Islands of Adventure | Orlando, FL

One of Universal’s six islands.

R+M was chosen to design all of the Marvel themed restaurants. Our challenge was to create colorful and graphic environments that would translate Marvel’s two dimensional comic book world into three-dimensional, well planned and successful operations. The atmosphere of colorful energy explodes and pulsates, super heroes fly off the walls and guests are drenched with adventure.

+ Jurassic Park

Universal’s Islands of Adventure | Orlando, FL

One of Universal’s six islands.

Our firm was tasked with designing all of the dino-centric restaurants and walk-up food facilities. Working with the Universal Creative Group, we carved John Hammond’s idea for a theme park into a truly authentic guest experience. Roughhewn timber structures were paired with fossil motifs and iconic prehistoric elements to immerse park attendees deep into the film’s atmosphere.

+ Paradiso 37

Disney Springs | Orlando, FL

An expanded restaurant at the new disney springs celebrates the cuisine of the 37 countries in the Americas.

Revitalized and more than doubled in size, this 14,000 square foot eclectic waterfront restaurant and bar now serves some 500 guests fare with Latin-Caribbean twists and delivers crafted drinks from the two rum and tequila bars. A true theme park dining experience.

+ Lombard’s Landing

Universal Studios | Orlando, FL

Our first project for Universal Studios

Lombard’s Landing is a 16,000 square foot restaurant and banquet operation, housed within several different facades reminiscent of various buildings found along San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. We were selected as a result of a design competition for the most important restaurant planned for the Universal Orlando attraction. The contract was for both the interior and architecture of Lombard’s as well as all of the buildings in the Fisherman’s Wharf area of the park. Through this project, our relationship with Universal was solidified and our firm was subsequently asked to participate in many of the new projects for the park.

+ Mel’s Drive-in

Universal Studios | Orlando, FL

Quick serve diner based on the classic movie, American Graffiti.

Our firm was selected to remodel and expand this classic Americana themed drive-in diner and to create many other projects at the original Universal Studios theme park. Chrome, colorful laminates and neon energized the guest experience and drove Universal Creative to continue their relationship with our successful design team.

+ Downbeat Jazz Hall of Fame

Universal CityWalk | Orlando, FL

A tribute to the most influential jazz musicians

This venue was created for Universal’s entertainment district and is a richly appointed museum, live performance venue and jazz club. Working with both Universal and Downbeat Jazz Magazine, we created a 12,000 square foot, two story venue that tells the rich story of jazz with style and sensitivity. In addition to planning, designing, and detailing the interior, our art department created and installed all the project’s large-scale graphic imagery and museum displays.

+ Gaurdians of Ra

Excavation of a Sun God’s temple

Guardians of Ra was designed as a concept for an entertainment facility to feature the talents of a nationally known magician. Our concept is based on the historic tale of the Sun God’s journey through the Underworld. This epic story was the basis of the once powerful ‘Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra’, a secret society that disappeared around 300 AD. The narrative for this concept is that the original temple of Ra has been excavated and his power has been reborn.

Hotels and Resorts

+ Emerald Grand

Destin, FL

Earned the Arda Gold Award for the best interior design of a new resort in America in 2008.

This full service condo hotel and resort has set a new standard for hospitality on the Emerald Coast of Florida. The narrative for the resort celebrates the history of Destin, its families, and the area’s sport fishing industry. To follow this theme, the interiors were designed in a style reminiscent of a historic southern yacht club. In addition to the design of the interiors, our team of artists created all of the artwork that illustrates the unique history and natural beauty of Florida’s emerald coast.

+ Encore Club

Reunion, FL

A relaxed tropical modern clubhouse for a large vacation home resort community in the attractions area of central florida.

A hotel service program drove the design and guest support functions for this three story, 25,000 square foot amenity clubhouse which overlooks a private waterpark and sits elevated over 780 resort homes.

+ Cap Ferrat

Naples, FL

An extraordinary highrise condominium detailed with old world style & grace.

The developer’s program was very specific with regard to this common space project: “Design the most gracious and significant high-rise condominium on Florida’s Gulf Coast.”

+ Club at Fiddler’s Creek

Naples, FL

A swing back in time to the great gatsby era, this neo-classical private club celebrates the timeless details of the early twentieth century.

The distinctive and comfortably aged atmosphere extols the romance of the 1920’s and celebrates the graceful commercial illustrators of the period. The club provides a bygone dining experience to a development of 6,000 residences.

+ Yacht Haven Grande

St. Thomas, USVI

Three restaurants created for one of the world’s largest mega yacht marinas.

Envisioned by Island Global Yachting, the restaurants for this expansive marina and retail entertainment complex needed to be completed within six months. Our firm was challenged to design and coordinate all three restaurants with a short schedule. The fact that all of the interior millwork, kitchen equipment, and furnishings, would need to be fabricated state side and shipped to the island, added to the difficulty of our task. We successfully delivered Grand Cru, Wikked and Fat Turtle on time and exceeded the client’s expectations.
